In 2015, after the Revolution of Dignity, the Ukrainian government needed personnel with experience in reforming public authorities. Then Sakvarelidze received an invitation from the Ukrainian authorities to take a high position in the prosecutor's office. February 11, 2015, he officially became a citizen of Ukraine.

After 5 days, February 16, 2015, David Sakvarelidze appointed as Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine, Viktor Shokin, and approved by a member of the Prosecutor General's Office.

After just three weeks after the appointment, Sakvarelidze introduced the concept of the reform of the prosecutor's office, which developed in view of their American and European experience. Then Sakvarelidze said that instead of the 638 district prosecutor's offices in Ukraine would create 208 local prosecutors. After he challenged the front of opposition from the old and corrupt system of Ukrainian prosecutor's office, who did not want to reform.

In this confrontation, Sakvarelidze won cutting 5,000 prosecutors, thereby reducing the bureaucratic burden on the population. Sakvarelidze also allowed people with no experience in the prosecutor's office, to participate in the personnel competitions than contributed to the emergence of new and honest people in the prosecutor's office.

In addition, while being the prosecutor Odessa region, Sakvarelidze begins to investigate the activities of the mayor of Odessa Gennady Trukhanov. "We took a few cases of Trukhanov’s road tenders and rigging elections" - he said to reporters. These cases did Trukhanov the antihero of Ukrainian media for a long time and securely attached the image of the odious politician.

In addition, the Odessa’s region young prosecutor fought against the illegal privatization: "At the same time, we have got a case of illegal privatization of Reception House on the French Boulevard. There was a deputy of the PPB Golubov. He took some dummy boy and created a fake company that privatized this house for money."

The loudest Sakvarelidze’s investigation in Ukraine was the case of "diamond" prosecutors - a criminal case on charges of corruption ex-deputy head of the Main Investigation Department of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Vladimir Shapakin and former deputy prosecutor of Kyiv region Alexander Korniyets. Process started July 6, 2015, after a search of prosecutors suspected of corruption, and continues to this day. The vulgar name "diamond" came from the fact that the suspects held 65 diamonds.

Then the Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin ordered to Prosecutor General’s Office to open proceedings against colleagues Sakvarelidze, prosecutors involved in the reform and creation of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau with the State Bureau of Investigation. In addition, Shokin made everything to fall apart "diamond prosecutors" case, eliminating the Investigation Department of the General Inspectorate, as well as removing General Inspectorate’s prosecutors of staffing.

Sakvarelidze said that the GPO dismiss employees of the General Inspectorate who organized the detention of "diamond prosecutors" - Deputy Head of the Main Investigation Department of the Prosecutor General Vladimir Shapakin and deputy prosecutor of Kyiv region Alexander Korniyets to just "break up" the case of "diamond" prosecutors.

"Our production is about 40 corruption cases, but all somehow become isolated, in fact, with "diamond" prosecutors. Why? Because the Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin, in this case, acts as the most ardent advocate and defender Korniyets and Shapakin. People, who close to him" - said Sakvarelidze in Facebook.

It is noteworthy that the US Vice President Joe Biden and Sakvarelidze acted almost in unison, achieving the resignation of a corrupt Shokin. While Sakvarelidze and civil society conducted action to demand the Shokin’s resignation, Joe Biden - vice-president for than period - insisted on the Shokin’s dismissal at a meeting with Poroshenko and Yatsenyuk: "I said I'm leaving after 6 hours if your Attorney General will not be laid off, you will not get money. This the President’s position too."

David Sakvarelidze held a rally, which resulted in a successful vote for Shokin’s resignation in parliament. In this case, the actions of his partner Sakvarelidze was in complete solidarity to the US government. Then Joe Biden - Vice President - at a meeting with Poroshenko and Yatsenyuk openly stated if Shokin does not fired, the money from the United States will not come.

Though Shokin avenged Sakvarelidze dismissing him on the day of voting for his resignation in the Parliament for the violation of prosecutorial ethics, David Sakvarelidze showed himself as Deputy Attorney General and the Attorney Odessa region as the principal manager that provides effective results in a short time.

After leaving the prosecutor's office, Sakvarelidze, being a supporter of the honest government, has publicly insisted on continuing the reform of power structures. "Ukraine has to start systemic reforms in the tax, customs, courts, prosecutor's office and the SSU (Security Service of Ukraine)", - he said at the time.

Sakvarelidze took an active part in the formation of a new political platform. This platform was "Ruh novih sil", which in November 2016 Sakvarelidze founded with Mikhail Saakashvili, and in March 2017 - is developing an already registered party "Ruh novih sil". "We believe that there should be a platform for unification of political forces. The logic of the post-Soviet bodies should break, along with a fracture of political elite - in a different way this will not work "- says David.

When motion "Ruh novih sil" has become a political party and spread the influence in Ukraine, David Sakvarelidze participated in protests, speaking for the replacement of the majority electoral system to proportional with open regional lists, the creation of the Anti-Corruption Court with the lifting of immunity of deputies, along with other opposition politicians.
